Jared Hector, DDS

  • Dr. Jared is a native of Traverse City. He has also lived in Belize and spent his high school years in Indiana. It was in Indiana where his passion for dentistry blossomed. It was there that a family friend asked Jared what he wanted to be when he grew up and he didn’t have a real answer. He decided to take Jared under his wing, which began his path toward dentistry. Jared chose this path because he was able to see the compassion and care that can be provided to help improve the lives of so many people utilizing medical science and art.

  • Dr. Jared’s love for the great state of Michigan brought him back for his undergraduate studies where he attended Grand Valley State University . It was there that he earned a bachelor of science degree in Biomedical Science. He then went on to graduate school at University of Michigan’s School of Dentistry earning his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2016. Upon graduation, he received the P.C. Lowery Award as well as the Comprehensive Care Award.

  • Dr. Jared is an active member in the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society, American Academy of General Dentistry, and is a member of Spear Education.

  • Dr. Jared and his wife, Haley, met while both attending U of M Dental School. Haley also works in the dental field as a dental hygienist for a local pediatric office. Dr. Jared and Haley welcomed their first child, Josie, in October 2021. They rescued two wonderful dogs, Abby and Frankie, that you may see at the office from time to time.

    When Dr. Jared is not caring for patients he enjoys spending time with family, fishing, biking, boating, attempting to play golf, and attending Michigan Football Games (Go Blue!).

    Before joining Johnson Family Dentistry (now Third Coast Family Dentistry), Dr. Jared gained his experience as a full-time practitioner at the Van Buren Health Department. He is motivated to help improve the lives of each and every patient and ensures all individuals' concerns are heard to provide the most comprehensive care possible.

  • Dr. Dave is a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area and a second generation dentist. He attended the University of Michigan; where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and continued on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 1985. Following dental school, his first three years were spent in the Chicago area where his time was split between work in a private dental practice and acting as a part-time clinical instructor at the Northwestern University School of Dentistry. This combination of work experience prepared him well for his return home to the Kalamazoo area where he joined his father's dental practice. He assumed control of the business in 1989 and maintained a solo practice.

  • Dr. Johnson strongly believes in "giving back" to the underserved. He has participated with the Michigan Dental Association "Donated Dental Services" program since 1996 and has made several medical/dental mission trips to Honduras. He also donates services to the Free Clinic of Kalamazoo.

  • Dr. Johnson continues to expand his knowledge through active membership in the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society and the Academy of Computerized Dentistry.

  • Dr. Johnson and his wife, Kathy, have two children. Their son, Matthew, is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and their daughter, Stephanie, is a graduate of the University of Michigan. His hobbies and interests include road biking, skiing, tennis and golf. He also enjoys working with stained glass. Several examples of his work can be seen throughout our office.
