Dental Implants
A dental implant is a screw shaped anchor inserted into the jaw where the tooth’s root would be. This is used to hold a permanent tooth or teeth.
Dental implants can be used for one crown, a bridge, or an entire set of teeth.
Step 1
The dental implant is surgically inserted into the jaw with the top slightly above the jaw.
A screw is inserted to keep it covered.
The gum is secured over the implant.
The healing process takes 3 - 6 months during which time the implant will fuse with the jaw.
Step 2
The dentist uncovers the implant and attaches a post.
The gum tissue heals around the post.
Step 3
The crown, bridge, or full set of teeth is attached to the implant post.
